Please join us for Holy Week Services:
We invite people to come and join in any of our Holy Week and Festival Easter worship services.
We preach Christ crucified and Risen from the dead. Jesus is our true Lord and Savior!
Lent is a 40-day season of preparation for Easter. Ash Wednesday begins our season of penitence and reflection. The word Lent comes from a middle English word “lente” meaning “spring.” For Christians, Lent is a time of “spring cleaning,” of facing up to our sinful selves and repenting before God’s wonderful throne of grace. It is also a time for the discipline of learning and growing in the faith. For many Christians this is a time marked by prayer, fasting and almsgiving. These acts of self-denial help to focus on Christ’s sacrifice as we ask God to “create a right spirit within us.” However, Sundays are not considered part of the season of Lent. We still joyfully celebrate the resurrection of Jesus every Sunday as we enjoy Jesus’ victory over sin and death.
Every Wednesday during this season of Lent, we will journey through some of the most familiar teachings of Jesus from The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. Our theme will relate to the events surrounding Christ’s life, death and resurrection. During Lent our midweek worship services will powerfully reveal that the cross itself is the ultimate sermon on the mount for our journey of faith in this sacred season.
Please pick up your copy of a Lenten devotional entitled “Sermon on the Mount.” These daily devotions will supplement our Wednesday night meditations (one per family, please). They are located on the table near the church entry. You are welcome to join us for our Wednesday Lenten Meal served from 5:30pm -6:30pm in the Gathering Room.

Greeted by children shouting "Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest!" and waving palm branches, we go back in time and reflect on the beginning of a week that starts boldly and ends with the death of Jesus. Special music at all services this weekend!
Pastor Martin Balzer's Message, "In Remembrance of Me"
Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 pm
Maundy Thursday is the day set aside during Holy Week when we recall the story of Jesus and his disciples in the "upper room". This is where Jesus shared bread and wine with them. Jesus also washed the feet of his disciples in a symbolic sign of love toward them. It would be the last time they would be together before Jesus would be crucified. The worship service will recall the moments of unending love, betrayal and arrest. Shepherd’s Voice Choir and the Handbell Choir will ring. The Sacrament of the Altar will be celebrated and the service will end in silence with the stripping of the altar and the reflective reading of select Psalms.
Pastor Steven Maske's Message “You Will Be With Me"
Friday, April 19th at 7:00 pm
The day Jesus Christ was crucified, God proved his love for his people by letting Jesus, his Son be crucified by the sins and wrongdoings of mankind. The darkest day of the church year is Good Friday. Good Shepherd will recognize and mourn the murder of Jesus with a special Tenebrae worship service. Special scripture readings, music from Shepherd's Voice and hymns and songs from the congregation will be the elements of this service of darkness. Jennifer Silk will perform special music with violin and viola, accompanied by music director and organist Gary Lichthardt and John Douglas. The Good Friday service engages all who come to worship and honor our Lord for what He has done.
