Easter Cantata "What Love is this?"

Traditional Palm Sunday Worship Service: Sunday, April 9th at 8:30 am
The Shepherds Voice Choir will present a special cantata on Palm Sunday weekend. “What Love Is This? –
Suffering Servant – Conquering King” is a new work from Lorenz Publishing that involves five composers in a collaborative effort, Lloyd Larson, Mary McDonald, Brad Nix, Marty Parks and Larry Shackley all wrote and arranged individual songs, that tell the story of the passion of Jesus, from His procession into Jerusalem, time with His disciples in the Upper Room and at Gethsemane, his trial before Pontius Pilate, the crucifixion and
triumphal resurrection. Orchestral accompaniment will enrich the music as people will find the presentation to be meaningful and worshipful. Gary Lichthardt, Director of Music and Worship Arts at Good Shepherd will
direct the 30 voice choir. Pastor Steven Maske will deliver an inspiring message.
April 13 MAUNDY THURSDAY
Pastor Andrew Howe’s Message, "Given and Shed for You"
Traditional Worship service including the celebration of the Lord's Supper with reflections on Jesus' Last Supper with His disciples.
Thursday, April 13th at 7:00 pm, Maundy Thursday is the day set aside during Holy Week when we recall the story of Jesus and his disciples in the "upper room". This is where Jesus shared bread and wine with them, He also washed the feet of his disciples in a symbolic sign of love toward them. It would be the last time they would be together before Jesus would be crucified. The worship service will recall the moments of
unending love, betrayal and arrest. Shepherds Voice Choir and the Youth Choir will sing. The service will end in silence with the stripping of the altar and the reflective reading of select Psalms.
April 14 GOOD FRIDAY
Pastor Steven Maske’s Message "It is Finished!"
A Tenebrae service will be held featuring meditations based on the seven last words of Jesus on the Cross.
Friday, April 14th at 7:00 pm, The day Jesus Christ was crucified, God proved his love for his
people by letting Jesus, his Son be crucified by the sins and wrongdoings of mankind. The darkest day of the church year is Good Friday. Good Shepherd will recognize and mourn the murder of Jesus with a special Tenebrae worship service. Special scripture readings, music from Shepherd's Voice and hymns and songs from the congregation will be the elements of this service of darkness. Jennifer Silk will perform special music with violin and viola, accompanied by music director and organist Gary Lichthardt. The Good Friday service engages all who come to worship and honor our Lord for what He has done.
April 16 EASTER SUNDAY WORSHIP
Pastor Steven Maske’s Sermon, "Alive in Christ""
Celebrating the Glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead!
Sunday, April 16th at 8:00 am, Traditional Festival Worship featuring: Shepherd's Voice Choir.
The celebration of the glorious resurrection and new life of Jesus Christ will be celebrated with a sunrise service of worship at 8:00 a.m. in the Worship Center. Shepherd's Voice Choir will sing songs of praise and alleluias, leading the congregation in songs of celebration. We will have a brass choir featuring students from the Larkin High School Music Academy. Gary Lichthardt, Director of Music will conduct the choir and serve as organist. Traditional Easter hymns and liturgy will be used to celebrate the Risen King!
Sunday, April 16th at 10:00 am, Festival Contemporary Worship featuring a service that proclaims "Alleluia to the Risen King", led by New Sound and the pastors of Good Shepherd. Pastor Steven Maske will serve as liturgist. Special music will be sung by the Shepherd Singers. New Sound will lead congregational singing plus present music they have prepared that proclaims the Good News of a triumphant King, New Sound is directed by Amy Hoffenkamp. We invite people to come and join in our worship of Jesus, our true Lord and Savior!
