GOOD SHEPHERD MUSIC MINISTRY

Worship and Music ministry in Christian churches these days across the country comes with a lot of variety and interpretation as to what makes quality, God-pleasing music to use in a worship service.  At Good Shepherd we offer Classic-Traditional, Blended-Traditional and Contemporary worship services.  In Classic and Blended we build our services using hymns from Lutheran Service Book and other resources. Here we also use both piano and organ and choir. Liturgical formats such as the Divine Service from the Lutheran Service Book are used frequently, and we also draw from Creative Worship that offers alternate resources for prayers, responses, and other music suggestions. Contemporary worship is informal, but maintains tradtional elements such as The Lord's Prayer and Apostle's Creed, the songs are more modern in nature, led by the Praise Team. Visitors are always welcome to check us out, have a cup off coffee and a donut when you come in. We would be happy to meet you and have you worship the Lord with us.

The church's music program offers the opportunity to members of Good Shepherd to use their vocal and instrumental talents as an expression of their faith and openly witness to the Lord through the gift of music. God loves to be praised and honored for all He does for us, why not respond through music and sing the song of the church. Shepherd's Voice and New Sound present an annual Christmas cantata, as well as a Palm Sunday weekend cantata.

Saturday evening service at 5:00 pm is  Blended Worship, a more casual service of prayer and preaching; a blend of new and old favorite songs and hymns plus Biblical, life-related teachings.

Sunday morning at 8:30 am is  Classic Traditional Lutheran Worship - Divine Service with Lutheran liturgy, hymns, and Biblical, life-related teaching. The Shepherd's Voice choir provides special music and leads the singing.

The 10:00 am  Contemporary Worship is enhanced by the Praise Band with the leadership of John Douglas, the director of contemporary music. Please consider using your musical talents in voice or instrument to serve the Lord through music ministry. The Praise Band practices on Tuesdays at 6:30 and is always open to new members! Please fill out the form below to get more information.

Our Preschool students receive music instruction each week during the school year. These, our youngest artists, are pleased to present anthems during regular Sunday worship services. They also prepare special programs for the Christmas season and in the springtime. They love to sing for mom and dad, grandma and grandpa. Mr. John Douglas serves as music teacher to the Preschool program.

Kid's Choir is our busiest children’s choir, made up of children whose ages range from preschool through fifth grade. This group presents anthems during worship services twice monthly and at most festival services. John Douglas is director of the program.

Shepherd's Voice is the adult choir of the church which sings regularly between the 5:00 pm Blended and the 8:30 traditional worship service. We have 24 singers in the choir, and it is always welcomes new members and recruits. The choir season starts end of August and finishes in early June. The choir rehearses on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. Shepherd's Voice also does special presentations at Christmas, Holy Week and last year we added a Spring concert. Gary Lichthardt directs the choir.

The Good Shepherd Handbell Choir is a 3 Octave bell choir now back in full swing. We are always looking for skilled and new ringers to train. We have an ensemble called Six Hearts - Twelve Hands that rings as well using a limited number of bells. Both bell choirs are fun and challenging, but very rew
