Enjoy the Journey!

Posted October 7, 2020

Andrea & I are going on a trip to see our NEW granddaughter for the first time next week!  She is almost two months old, but due to COVID restrictions we haven’t been able to see her yet. We’re so excited to make the trip and see her for the first time!

How are you with your faith journey?  Are you excited to be on the “trip” or has it become like a boring daily commute? Is it possible that we would ever take God’s grace for granted?  We know that we have been “saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves it is a gift of God so that no man may boast!” (Ephesians 2:8-9) How could we ever just take Jesus’ love for granted?

When we live our lives day to day we may have a tendency to downplay the severity of our sins.  We forget the simple truth that “The wages of sin is death!” (Romans 6:23) When we relativize our sinfulness and say, “I’m no saint, but at least I am better than….” We diminish the value of Jesus’ love for us.  When we try to justify our actions with thoughts like “It’s not that big of a deal, everybody does it.” We limit the love of Jesus and our need for forgiveness in our lives.

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he writes to Christians who were not fully appreciating God’s gift of forgiveness.  Paul asked the question, “Should we just keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving?” Paul answers the question with this response: “By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life!” (Romans 6:2-4)

As easy as it may be to take Jesus’ love for granted, don’t do it! We have the gift of new life in Christ TODAY!  You and I have received the PRICELESS gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life with Jesus in heaven!  That is exciting news! Enjoy your journey celebrating the love of Jesus!

On the Journey with Jesus!
