“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
We have so much to be joyful for at Good Shepherd! Our Good Shepherd family has faced many challenges, but the love of God has remained constant! We have emerged from the challenges of COVID and God has shown that His love and mercy truly endure forever!
Just about one year ago, Good Shepherd celebrated the re-opening of our church building on June 21, 2020 when our sanctuary was rededicated as a house of worship! We’ve continued to return to normal worship as we now have a “mask optional” policy. Onsite worship has increased throughout 2021! Our average worship is now nearly double what it was from last year!
We continue to offer online streaming of our worship services. Thank you to our dedicated team of volunteers who have worked faithfully to ensure that members were still able to worship online at home. Thank you to our Tech Team, Shepherd’s Voice choir, Praise Team and Lay Ministers who faithfully served in worship EVERY WEEKEND during the pandemic! We thank God for their faithful support of our Good Shepherd Ministry. A special note of thanks to Gary Lichthardt and Kelsey Tichenor who continue to faithfully lead an awesome music program!
Good Shepherd continues to connect with a group of people that may never have had an opportunity to hear the Gospel message of Jesus! There are currently over 200 subscribers to our YouTube channel and over 1000 followers of Good Shepherd on Facebook! Thank you for your generous support for the purchase of tech equipment. The purchase of this equipment has not only improved our onsite worship experience; it has enabled us to stay connected to our Good Shepherd family around the world!
We also praise God for your financial stewardship of our Good Shepherd ministry. Thank you for your faithful support! Thank you to our church leadership who through participation in federal and state programs, ensured that our Good Shepherd ministry team would continue to receive support during this time of financial disruption due to COVID-19. Additionally, with the sale of the Van Street property and with your faithful support, Good Shepherd was able to reduce the overall mortgage loan by $1,000,000! Weekly offerings continue to increase and we hope to finish the fiscal year in a healthy position!
Good Shepherd has demonstrated significant resiliency and flexibility during this COVID season offering various online Bible Studies. In the Fall of 2020 we returned to onsite midweek Bible studies as well as Sunday School and Confirmation Class. Please join us this Fall as we continue to offer onsite Family Night and Bible Studies! Another reason to celebrate is our Telecare Program. Every month, Telecare callers reach out to families that otherwise may not receive any personal contact with Good Shepherd. We give thanks to God for the efforts of our Telecare callers!
Good Shepherd also rejoices in the faithful efforts of our Preschool Ministry! Enrollment for our upcoming Fall is very strong! We are also running a robust Summer Camp with 80 students participating! Thank you to our Preschool Staff who continue to connect with our Elgin community!
Our “Green Initiative Program” is nearly complete. This involves the installation of energy efficient lighting. Another exciting element of this is the completion of the “Shepherd Path and Community Garden.” This community project is an Eagle Scout project for John Tighe. This beautiful project now serves as a vital connection between Good Shepherd and our Elgin community!
With your support, we hope to finish our current ministry year strong. We praise God and thank you for your faithful support! Summer giving tends to be challenging, and it may be even more challenging during our COVID recovery. We are hopeful that you will prayerfully consider meeting your financial commitment that you made last Fall to enable our Good Shepherd ministry to remain financially healthy.
Thank you for your faithful support of your Good Shepherd ministry. Your engagement in the ministry is appreciated! Please reflect on the blessings that you have received through Jesus Christ and share that story with someone. Reaching out to our Elgin community is as simple as saying hello to your neighbor! Get to know the people in your life and as you listen to their needs and concerns remember that Jesus promises to always be with us!
Together in Christ,
Pastor Steven R. Maske
