Lost in the dark

Have you ever lost something....in the dark?  It's frustrating isn't it?  What do you do?  You need to find a light so that you can see what's lost!

Ever since the Fall of Adam, the entire world was lost and "in the dark!" Everyone was living in the darkness of their sin.  People had gotten so used to the darkness that they didn't even know they were lost! Then God sent his word to the prophet Isaiah to "enlighten" them.  "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone." (Isaiah 9:2)

The people would stumble around 700 more years before "The Great Light", Jesus would be born in a humble manger in Bethlehem. Magi, astronomers from the East, followed a star that would guide them to the "King of the Jews."  They would follow the light of a star that would point them to the "Light of the world!"

God's word encourages you and me to be drawn to the light of Jesus!  "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising."  Isaiah 60:1-3

Are you feeling lost? Do you feel like you're "in the dark?" God knew that we were lost in our sin, so He pointed the Light of Jesus into our darkened, sinful world to find us.  Allow the light of Jesus to shine into your life.  Admit that you are lost and that you need some help.  Turn away from the darkness of your sin and allow the Holy Spirit to point you to the Light of Jesus' love and forgiveness.  Jesus is the "Light of the world" who came to save... you!
