Peace In Troubled Times

King David was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me…’ (Psalm 23:4). With all of the news about the Coronavirus, you may think that we are walking through this valley right now! Are you worried about Coronavirus? How can you have peace and healing in the midst of these very anxious times?

Trust can calm our worries—but trust in what? Trust who? Our government? The president? Our doctors? Who can be so strong and wise and good that you can entrust your life to him? God is. God created you and loves you more than you can imagine. He knows your doubts and fears and He cares for you. God’s words to you says, “Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). That means giving your uncertainties and distress to the God who wants you to feel secure in Him. To experience this kind of security, you first need to receive His gift of love in Jesus.  God cares so much about you that He sent Jesus Christ to save you from eternal separation from Him, providing a way for you to be with Him forever.

It’s wise to protect yourself against this outbreak. At the same time, don’t let anxiety consume your life. Jesus asks us in the Bible, “And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” (Matthew 6:27). Trouble and suffering will always exist, but you can have peace in your heart knowing that your eternal future is safely in hands of Jesus! Please keep praying for the sick and all who care for them. My prayer for you is that you would place all of your hope and trust in your Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ!

Trusting in Jesus!
