Don't Worry It's Spring!
Wow, I almost missed
it! With everything going on I almost forgot that Thursday, March 19 was the
first day of Spring! The grass is starting to turn green. Some flowers
are starting to poke through the ground. The earth is waking up from a long
winter’s sleep! As I walked outside today I heard a robin sing. I even saw a
pair of ducks looking for a place to build their nest. It’s finally springtime!
As I listened to the birds sing, I had a thought. They are ignorant to the
upheaval that the coronavirus has caused! The birds are NOT worrying about
COVID 19? In a sense they are being more “faithful” than many of us!
The birds reminded me
of Jesus’ calling us NOT to worry in His Sermon on the Mount. “Therefore I tell
you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your
body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than
clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in
barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more
valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:25-27)
You may have a lot
that you are worrying about, family health, job loss, the economy…, but one
thing that you do NOT have to worry about is God’s love for you! God promised
that He will “never leave you or forsake you!” Yes, we need to be wise
and stay healthy. We need to practice “Social distancing” as we “shelter in
place”, but we can also trust in Jesus’ love! We can share that love with
others too. Reach out to your neighbors. Call someone who you know may be
lonely. Be gentle with others as you may be out shopping.
I invite you to
worship with your Good Shepherd family online. Check out our Good Shepherd
Facebook Page, Website or YouTube channel. Pray for our nation and those
affected by coronavirus. I invite you to get into God’s Word, Matthew
chapter six may be a good place to start!
We’re going to get
through this together as we follow the Good Shepherd Jesus! Look for Jesus as
you step outside. The birds are not worrying. You don’t have to worry
Trusting in Jesus,
