A Father's Love

A Father's Love

For better or worse, most of us spend a LOT of time on social media. On average, people spend more than two hours a day on Facebook and other platforms! The good news is that social media has allowed people to stay connected with friends and family even through the isolation of the COVID pandemic.

One aspect of Facebook is the facial recognition feature that allows you to “tag” your pictures with the name of the people in your pictures. There certainly are ethical concerns associated with how tech companies may be using this data, but facial recognition is a useful feature in Facebook. I find it interesting that when I am tagging a picture, Facebook makes suggestions as to who the person might actually be in a picture based on previous posts. Recently, when I was tagging myself in a picture, the suggested name was… my dad! I don’t really think that we look all that much alike, but Facebook sure does! For better or worse, we are a reflection of our parents and what they taught us. Being part of a family is a joyful experience with many ups and downs, joys and sorrows.

The Greatest news is that irrespective of the family that you were born into, as Christians we are part of a new family. We have a Father God who loves you dearly! “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are!” (1 John 3:1) You may not think that you look a lot like your Father God, but you do. “Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 3:2) You look like your dad!

You belong to a Father who loves you so dearly that He sent His Son, your brother Jesus to rescue you and give you new life! “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life!” (John 3:16)

Enjoy the love!
