Doing Good

Posted October 19, 2022
Doing GoodLast week we were reminded that “Jesus can do more with two people who are talking with each other than he can do with two people who are successfully ignoring each other!”  The truth is that there are many people out there who are hurting and they just need someone to listen to them.

By simply talking with other people we can find out what is going on in their lives.  As we begin to talk with people, over time we soon can see where Jesus is working in their lives and we can look for opportunities to see where we can plant a seed of hope and share a word of comfort. As we listen to people and hear the struggles that they are going through we can begin to see how Jesus is already preparing them to receive His love.

We’ve heard of the term “random acts of kindness.”  What if an action that looked “random” or spontaneous was actually something planned by God in advance?  God’s Word reminds us that “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

By talking with people and doing good we can be in a better position to “Join Jesus on His Mission.” It’s really about Jesus working and us listening.  It’s really about Jesus preparing and us responding. How do we do some good here in Elgin?  How do we help the good of God become more real to the people around us? Let’s go and Join Jesus on His Mission and find out!
