Healed by Jesus

Posted January 25, 2024
Healed by JesusThere’s an old saying, “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” One area of my life in which I am very mindful of this saying is in the area of my medical care. Recently, my doctor retired, so now I have a new doctor. I’m a little apprehensive. My previous doctor has taken care of me for ten years. We’ve established a relationship. He has become a real friend. We could talk about anything. What will my new doctor be like? I hope that my new doctor will know what they are doing, but I also wonder if my new doctor will really care about me! I sure hope so…

When Paul was writing the Christians at Corinth about their faith life, he wrote, “We know that “all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up.” (1 Cor. 8:1) Or to put it another way, “Nobody cares about how much you know about Jesus, if you don’t show them how much you love them!”  If we are all “puffed up” about ourselves, then there is no way that we can put ourselves in the other person’s shoes and truly listen to them and understand their needs.

Paul continues, “If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.” 1 Cor. 8:1,2) The bottom line is this: It’s not so important what we may know (or don’t know) about God, what’s important is that God “knows us” and He shows us His love to us through His Son Jesus!

We sometimes think that we need to know all the answers about God, but sometimes having a humble heart can help us more than having a brilliant (proud) mind.  We never really know enough until we recognize that God alone knows it all! And most importantly God knows us perfectly and HE STILL LOVES US!

Trusting in Jesus' perfect healing,
