Joining Jesus as we hang out with people

Joining Jesus as we hang out with people

When Jesus came to live on earth and save the world from sin He had a secret weapon!  What was it? Hanging out with sinners and enjoying them in His Father’s grace!  This was such an integral part of Jesus’ ministry that His reputation was as “a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!” (Matthew 11:19) Why would He do that? Because He loves you!

It may not make sense to you and me but Jesus chose an “inefficiently effective” strategy of hanging out with people because he had a big mission to do and only a limited time to do it.  He knew that the best way to get connected to people was by sitting down and talking with them!

You and I can do this today as we simply listen to people share what's on their hearts.  How do we do this?  Simply ask someone, “How are you doing?” You can let the conversation go from there!  It’s really not all that hard to join Jesus on His Mission.  All you have to do is to enjoy people and look to see what Jesus is already doing in people’s lives.

God’s word gives us some good guidance.  “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:1-4)

Stay healthy and be safe. We're in this together with Jesus!

God's Blessings,
Pastor Steve Maske
