We certainly live in challenging times don’t we? We all have health concerns associated with the pandemic. We have concerns with our family and how our children may contend with on-line school. There is civil unrest in our nation. Where can we go for solace, for peace? Where can we go for hope?
Early Christians faced severe trials and persecution. In spite of these conditions, they remained faithful as they placed their hope in Jesus! St. Paul writes, “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies…Since we have such a hope, we are very bold!” (2 Corinthians 4:8-10; 3:12)
Our theme for our Fall Worship at Good Shepherd is “Living in Hope.” As Christians we know that we can place our hope in Jesus! He always keeps His promises! “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27) God’s blessings to you in these challenging times. During this unique season, may the Holy Spirit remind you that the love of our Savior Jesus is constant and unchanging! As we faithfully adapt with our changing context, we can trust in the words of our loving God who “will never leave us or forsake us!” (Joshua 1:5)
