Love Letter

Love Letter

Have you ever received a love letter? Maybe it was from someone special from long, long ago…. A love letter can hold a very special place in your heart. Even years later, stumbling onto an old love letter can evoke strong emotions and memories of love even from years ago. I am sure that I have a box of old love letters tucked away somewhere in the garage that I may need to track down.

The Bible is a love letter of sorts. There are certainly many chapters that are filled with messages of love. One book in the bible (Song of Solomon) is actually a passionate letter that a king writes to his lover!

One of the most well-known verses in the Bible is a passage of God’s love for you! John 3:16 is one of those verses that I am sure that you have memorized. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life!”  This is a declaration of God’s never ending love for you! But, could it be possible that you have heard this verse so many times, that you could take God’s love for granted? If this is the case, I would ask you to step back and open this “love letter” again.

God loves you so much that he sent Jesus to rescue you from certain death! Jesus was faithful to take your place and to demonstrate that “greater love has no man that he lay down his life for his friends.” This Memorial Day weekend as we honor the dedication of those service men and women who made the supreme sacrifice for their country, we look to the love of our Savior Jesus who died so that ALL mankind would live with him forever!

God has sent you a love letter. If you haven’t opened it in a while, I encourage you to open up your Bible and celebrate the gift of God’s love for you in Jesus Christ!

Living in the love of Jesus!
