Red Letter Challenge Devotion - Week 6
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew? ?28:18-20?)

We invite people all the time. It is just part of living with others. We invite people to share a meal with us or meet for coffee. We invite them to a movie or to go out to eat. We invite for a variety of reasons, and it seems like there is nothing to it.

As we read God’s word and study Jesus’ life here on earth, we see Him consistently inviting the people around Him. He invites them to share a meal, to listen to a story or parable, or sometimes to simply observe Him. The Bible makes it clear that Jesus values relationships.

In the Gospel text from Matthew 28, Jesus is inviting each one of us to walk alongside Him and be a part of God’s redemptive mission to bring all people to Him. This passage is referred to as “The Great Commission”. The mission belongs to Jesus Christ, but He has graciously called each of us to be a part of it!

God is ready and able to work in and through your relationships. Jesus made disciples by inviting others to follow and observe Him as He went about His ordinary, everyday life - and you can, too! Keep your eyes and heart open for those opportunities that God has prepared in advance for you.

You are a child of the Most High God, dearly loved. You have been redeemed and sanctified by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, you’ve been sent out, reflecting the Light of Jesus to a dark world! So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to get going!

God's Blessings,
