The Cure

The Cure

If you had a cure for cancer, would you share it with others? What if you knew the answer that would put an end to all diseases for all time? Of course you would share your remedy with everyone you knew, right? I am thankful that doctors and scientists have developed vaccines for Polio, Smallpox and other diseases. Even though it seems that the COVID -19 vaccine is controversial, I got it anyway. It just seemed like the right thing to do…

As Christians, we know that Jesus is THE CURE. Jesus is the source for ALL healing of both body and soul! But even the healing that Jesus brings is controversial. In the Gospel of John chapter six, Jesus shares with the people, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh!”

When Jesus shared these words, many people got upset with him! But it was not just Jesus' enemies who got angry. When Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you”, many of his own  disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it? “But the last straw for many of Jesus’ disciples was when he  said, “No one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.” After Jesus said this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with Jesus.

How about you? Do the words of Jesus offend you? Do you struggle to accept the “hard teachings” of Jesus that “He is the way and the truth and the life”? Do you struggle with the truth when Jesus says, “No one comes to the Father except through me”?

After many of His disciples left Jesus, He turned to His twelve apostles and said, “Do you want to go away as well?” By the power of the Holy Spirit, Peter was able to answer, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God!” (John 6:68-69)

I pray that the Holy Spirit would come to you today so that you would trust in the life-giving words of Jesus who comes to bring you His love and mercy! Jesus comes to bring you eternal healing, well beyond the medical power of any man-made vaccine. Jesus comes to you with the power and promise of His Word as he feeds you with the bread of life!

Healed by the love of Jesus,

 Pastor Maske
